Since I’ve become a self-proclaimed makeup addict, I’ve become a huge fan of something I wasn’t crazy about before. What is it? Skin care! I’ve worn makeup even since around the age of 15 but I never really thought twice about skin care or having a dedicated skincare regimen. I just thought soap and water at the end of the day would the trick and I moved along.
However, as time went on, I began to realize I was very wrong with that soap and water mentality. I began to research the right products for my skin type and it was trial and error until I found exactly what worked for me. With the right skin care routine, I noticed that when I gave my skin that extra TLC, the makeup that I placed on top of it just melted on top of my skin and was the only trick that worked for truly FLAWLESS looking makeup!
In my quest for new skin care products, I stumbled upon a brand called Mario Badescu. In that brand, I found 2 products that have quickly become holy grail products and I’m going to break down the A to Z of both of my favorite products in this post. These products are both amazing in their own ways and the best part; they’re so affordable!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater
A Little Background:
I feel as the Mario Badescu Facial Spray has been viral in the beauty community for so long! I have no idea how or why it happened, but this product truly deserves every little bit of love that it gets. This product is a hydrating mist with no rules. What do I mean by that? You can use the Mario Badescu Facial Spray at any time AND anywhere! Mario Badescu facial spray is a mist that can be used to soothe the skin, rehydrate your skin, boost hydration, set your makeup, refresh your makeup, and can even be used on your hair. Like I said, no rules! The spray is infused with Aloe Vera, Gardenia, Rose, Thyme, and many other delicious ingredients that are both good for your skin and pack the best punch when it comes to rejuvenating and hydrating your skin.
My Experience with the Mario Badescu Facial Spray:
Personally, I’ve found that this product is the answer to save my skin when it’s not at its full potential. If it’s feeling a little blah or dehydrated, this is the perfect spray to solve it all. The mist on this product is SO FINE, meaning that it never sprays huge globs of liquid on your face; it’s very gentle. If I get my eyebrows waxed and I have some red irritated skin, this is also gentle enough to help soothe the skin. My favorite use for the Mario Badescu Facial Spray is either as a pick-me-up when my skin is feeling lackluster, right after washing my face for extra hydration, or right before my nightly creams. I feel like it really helps my creams absorb into the skin much better!
Can the Mario Badescu Facial Spray Be Used Under or Over Makeup?
When it comes to makeup, this product can be used both as a setting spray or even as a primer underneath. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I have super oily skin that only gets worse throughout the day. Thus, whenever I’ve used this product either before or after my makeup, I’ve found that it’s hydration power is a little too strong for my liking because my skin just looks too dewey. However, if I have to wear my makeup all day and after a while it’s starting to look a little too cakey and flat, I spray this refreshing mist all over my face and I find that it’s the perfect pick-me-up!
Can This Product Be Used on my Hair?
Lastly, I mentioned in the beginning that this product can even be used on hair. And no, that wasn’t a typo; this facial spray can also be used on hair! Rosewater has many different properties; and when it comes to hair, it’s just as effective. I’ve found that when it comes to hair, rosewater is great for hydrating, nourishing, softening your hair, calms any scalp conditions such as dryness or dandruff, and contains many vitamins that can lead to strengthening your hair follicles! Sounds like a total miracle product to me.
What If I Don’t Like the Smell of Roses?
If the scent of roses isn’t your thing, they have recently released many more scents and varieties of this spray. My personal favorite is the rosewater variety, however, they also have an Aloe, Chamomile, & Lavender spray, as well as an Aloe, Cucumber, & Green Tea Spray. One of the best things about the Mario Badescu Facial Spray, aside from everything mentioned, is that it is truly SUPER GENTLE and can be used on ANY skin type!
Some Final Takeaway Tips on How to Use this Product:
- Mist on to your hair, face, neck, for a boost of hydration
- Use it before your moisturizer to really help it absorb into your skin
- Use it after your moisturizer for extra hydration
- Set your makeup with it for a dewey and radiant finish
- Use it as a primer underneath makeup for a glowy feeling to your skin
Mario Badescu Facial Spray is so versatile and there are really no bounds to it. As you can tell, there are so many uses and each one of them works so well. This product is available in 2 sizes and is sold in stores at Ulta as well as online. The 4 ounce bottle retails for $7.00 and the 8 ounce bottle retails for $12.00. It’s so affordable and in my opinion, worth every penny!
A Little Background:
When I was younger, I suffered with pretty bad breakouts. Maybe it was just teenage hormones or maybe it was that I would constantly touch my face, but whatever it was, my skin was pretty bad. I would have little blackouts that would grow into pimples that would not only hurt, but also be pretty embarrassing.
When I felt like just washing my face wasn’t enough, I went to my mom and asked for her help on what can possibly be done. My mom handed me the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, taught me how to use it, and the rest was history!
What is the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion?
This product is a drying lotion that’s meant to be a fast acting spot-treatment for any acne breakouts. This product includes Salicylic acid, sulfur, as well as Zinc oxides. Although I’m not a scientist to know what each ingredient does on its own, I know that all of them work in unison to draw impurities out of your skin and dry out any breakouts they’re applied to. Even though the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is effective and fast acting, it’s still super gentle meaning it can be used on your breakouts regardless of your skin type (even on sensitive skin!).
How Do I Use the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion?
This product is meant to be used overnight which is exactly how I use it for maximum results! I use a Q-tip, dip it straight into the bottle, and then apply a thin layer over any breakouts I’m experiencing. Go to sleep, and when I wake up, I’m absolutely stunned at how my breakout is either drastically reduced or completely gone! It’s magical.
“Remember, Do NOT Shake the Bottle!”
One important thing to note about this product is that you absolutely should NOT shake the bottle. When looking at it, you can see that the lotion is made up of 2 layers; a clear liquid and then a pink chalky precipitate at the bottom. I have no idea why, but, when you dip your Q-tip into the bottle, you need to resist the urge to mix the two layers by shaking the bottle, but should instead dip straight down into the pink layer and then upward so that the liquid coats it. No idea why, but I won’t question magic
“What Do I Do if I Accidentally Shake the Two Layers?”
If you happen to find that you either dropped the bottle or accidentally mixed the two layers, it’s not a problem! (I’ve done it before a few times!) All you have to do is rest the bottle upward and give it a little bit of time to settle back to its proper layer; and just like that, it’ll be back to normal.
Tips on Applying the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion:
When it comes to getting the maximum results, I have a few recommendations to really get the full potential out of this product. First off, obviously, don’t mix the layers so the product will work correctly. Next, apply a thin layer, resisting the urge to really apply many layers on top of your breakout. Also, be sure to do it over night so that the product has the maximum amount of time to work. Next, DON’T apply this product over a popped pimple! A popped pimple has exposed, irritated, and sensitive skin and that’s just a recipe for a pain and a plain old NO when it comes to this product! Apply this product right away when you feel a breakout about occur, and you’ll really see the magic.
A little disclaimer, when you first apply the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, it may tingle a tiny bit, but it isn’t too bad! The tingle is only there right away when you apply the lotion to the breakout and once it dries (which it does quickly), there’s absolutely no tingle or sensation.
Typically, it sort of absorbs into my skin and when I wake up, it’s pretty much gone. However, if you wake up and notice that you still have a bit of product left on your face, it’s super easy to wash off with just some soap and water.
Can I Use the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion on Cystic Acne?
Lastly, this product is not really meant to be used for cystic acne if you’re experiencing that on your skin. This drying lotion is more meant for the sporadic annoying little surface acne breakouts. When it comes to cystic acne, this brand offers other lotion’s and products that will be able to help! This product is sold both online and in store in a standard size. It retails for $17.00 and it comes in either a glass or plastic bottle.
I can say, the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion really caused my face to not only get better but also gave me a sense of calmness when I get a breakout because I know I have a little bottle of magic to help me out!
These 2 products by Mario Badescu have become staples in my skin care and work like a dream every single time! I hope these tips and tricks are helpful and that you give these products a try. If you’ve already tried these out, do you like them? If not, why not?! Let me know in the comments below <3
