Ever since I was in the 8th grade, (I’m 24 now) I’ve had such a love for makeup. It started out with just simple black eyeliner in my waterline, then I added on mascara; fast forward to now it’s a full blown full-face addiction. I am by no means a professional makeup artist or beauty guru, but I personally LOVE reading about other peoples makeup routines; so I thought I’d share mine. In my blog posts I won’t be doing full “reviews” of products, for example wear-time comparisons, but I’ll be sharing my My Everyday Makeup Routine!
Since I work Monday-Friday, I do my makeup usually every morning. However, waking up is truly so difficult for me. Lately, I’ve been oversleeping almost every day (I’m trying to work on that) and that forces me to do my makeup super quick in order to be on time for work. My everyday makeup routine, in its entirety, takes me about 20-25 minutes; which I think is pretty good time. One of the most important factors for my makeup is durability. Since I work a 9-5 desk job, I don’t really have a chance to touch up my makeup throughout the day. Because of this, I’ve definitely had my fair share of bad make-up days where I come home looking like I dipped my face in cakey oil, not fun :(. So here’s a list of products I swear by for every-day work makeup. I’ll definitely be doing more make-up related posts and I’d love to hear what you want me to write about.
My Everyday Makeup Routine
My skin type = Oily
** Disclaimer: When I say Oily, I mean OILY. Usually by the end of the day, my face is pretty shiny. I feel like I’ve finally found the right products that keep my oils at bay. So, I don’t really use products for dewy skin since that’s a recipe for disaster. With time, I feel like my skincare routine has minimized the oiliness of my skin, but it’s definitely still a work in progress.
STEP 1: First thing in the morning, I wash my face with cold water to wake up!
STEP 2: Primer. I used to think primer was just a gimmick but I was so wrong. I usually only use primers for oily skin or larger pores. I had a Sephora gift card and decided to try this primer and I fell in LOVE! Every single time I wear this primer, my makeup looks smooth, my pores are almost non-existent, and the best part: it makes my makeup last all day. On the weekends, I like to wear this primer just on its own to the gym or on errands and it makes my face look super smooth and not oily.

– How I apply: With my fingers! I especially focus on my T-zone and areas with larger pores.
STEP 3: Foundation (sort of). I’ve never really been a foundation type of girl. I always felt that foundation is pretty heavy and I can feel it just sitting on my face. One day, I decided to try out a CC+ cream and I have never went back. I found that this CC+ cream makes my face looks flawless, evens out my skin tone, and wears great. I also love that it has a pump because it makes the product so easy to dispense. They have a regular version of this product, but I found my skin to be a little too oily at the end of the day with it. Once I found an Oil-free version, I was on cloud 9 and never went back to the original.

-How I apply: With a foundation brush. I sometimes use a makeup sponge but I feel more comfortable using a brush.
STEP 4: Powder. Since I have oily skin, powder has become my best friend. I use this powder right after applying my foundation so it can take any shine away and also add a little extra coverage wherever I may need it. Because I don’t really have a chance to touch up makeup throughout the day, I add the second powder on top just to make sure any oils I have throughout the day are controlled. I know the product is white, but, it doesn’t leave any white-cast on the face; it comes off as translucent. I swear by this powder and I’ve repurchased it literally a million times!

-How I apply: With a brush.
STEP 5: Bronzer. I’m not really into contour or anything too extreme for everyday, but I love how bronzer just wakes up the skin and gives me a little bit of a tan. I’ve been using this bronzer for years and I love it!

-How I apply: With a brush.
STEP 6: Blush. I’ve only recently started to wear blush daily and I can’t get enough! I really like blushes that aren’t too pink because I still want my face to look natural. This blush is perfect for every day and it isn’t too extremely pigmented so it’s pretty easy to use.

-How I apply: With a brush.
STEP 7: Highlight. This is easily my FAVORITE step in my makeup routine. I can never call a look complete without the finishing touch of highlight. I can admit, I probably apply way more than I actually need, but I just love it too much. I own way way too many highlighters but I bought this one at Ulta when I had a 20% off coupon and truly, no other highlight can compare.

-How I apply: With a brush.
STEP 8: Setting Spray. This is a step that has been pretty new to me. I never thought setting spray was necessary but this step has completely changed the lasting power of my makeup. I like to use this matte setting spray to be the finishing touch to my routine. Call me crazy, but I find this step therapeutic in a way too!

STEP 9: Mascara. I am the first to admit, I’m a mascara junkie!! I love trying new mascaras and finding ones that work the best for me. This mascara has been my favorite for months. It curls my lashes, makes them super black, and pretty easy to remove.

STEP 10: Chapstick/Lip Gloss. This is less of a step and more of an essential! I apply this lip gloss throughout the day because I just love when my lips feel hydrated. This lip gloss has Coconut oil, which means it leaves the lips super hydrated and shiny. The best part? It’s not sticky! I feel like the worst part about lip gloss is that your lips feel super goopy and hair always gets stuck on them. That doesn’t happen with this one at all. This lip gloss is A DREAM!

This concludes “My Everyday Makeup Routine.” If you are having troubles thinking of your own, follow my step – by – step guide and tune it to your preferences. Most of all, have FUN with it!
