The BEST Hydrating Lip Balm: Glossier “The Balm Dotcom”

by Angie <3

Aside from being a self-proclaimed makeup fanatic and addict, there’s one additional thing I feel like I’m pretty well versed in. Lip Glosses and Lip Balms! Although I love the occasional lipstick, I have always felt more comfortable with balms and glosses; they keep my lips moisturized, looking juicy, and free of wear and tear! How is this possible? The secret is to finding the BEST hydrating lip balm.

What do I Look for in Lip Balms?

When it comes to choosing a Lip Balm, I’m a simple girl; I look for the best hydrating lip balm, little to no stickiness, shine, comfort, and great ingredients! Bonus points if it smells good too. All together, this creates the lip balm that we’re all dying to get our hands on!

A few weeks ago, my amazing sister sent me a care package with a product I’ve been wanting to get for the longest time. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, for some reason I have always been a tad skeptical when it came to trying out a brand that isn’t commonly sold in stores purely because I like to physically look at the product before picking it up. But, my sister surprised me with one of my favorite things ever; LIP BALMS! Not just any lip balms; she surprised me with Glossier “The Balm Dotcom” lip balms!

What is the BEST Hydrating Lip Balm?

I’ve known about these lip balms for a while, but as I said, I was always hesitant to give it a try because the brand is not carried in traditional makeup stores such as Ulta or Sephora. The Glossier “The Balm Dotcom” (how cute?) is available in 8 different flavors. Of their 8 Glossier “The Balm Dotcom” flavors, the ones that I have are Mango and Birthday. Their balm is described as a hydrating lip balm that’s packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish dry, chafed skin. Additionally, the balms are formulated with Castor Oil, Beeswax, and Lanolin which are said to be nature’s heavy duty moisturizers, which will basically give you super nourished and hydrated lips!

First off, let me say these balms smell HEAVENLY! Not only do they smell exactly as they’re advertised, they also actually taste great too. The Mango balm is so refreshing, smells so delicious and it has a very slight coral tint. The Birthday balm smells like the most delicious, sweet vanilla cake and it has no tint but it is packed with some sparkles.

After a few uses, I can say that both of the balms are SO hydrating; the BEST hydrating lip balm in my opinion! They are unlike my other favorites because they have a thicker consistency so they really stay on your lips for a while. Also, these balms are a tad different than my other holy grails (such as the Kopari) because they’re not super shiny, they really just leave your lips looking and feeling smooth and hydrated. They do have a slight shine, but they’re not a straight up gloss.

The BEST Hydrating Lip Balm: Final Thoughts

If you’re a fan of lip balms and you’re looking for the BEST hydrating lip balm; one that moisturizes your lips perfectly, smells AMAZING,and has GREAT staying power, then I HIGHLY recommend giving the Glossier “The Balm Dotcom” a shot.

One thing to mention is that this product is $12. Although you can pick up some Vaseline and get somewhat of the same hydration on your lips (without the sparkle or delicious scent), this product really is worth the extra splurge in my opinion because it will last you so long. As I said, the formula is on the thicker side so a little bit will really go a long way.
